This year for Christmas, the only item I have on my list is a Clarisonic. In case your not familiar with it, Clarisonic is a professional style cleansing brush that deeply cleans your skin. It consists of a rechargeable electric handle unit, and removable brush head(s), which use a sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to cleanse the skin.
Why is this so impressive? Use of the Clarisonic not only cleanses the skin, but also helps reduce dry patches, blemishes, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Facial products are also absorbed better, getting the most out of your pricey creams and serums.
The system is a tad pricey, starting at $149 for the travel size model and almost $200 for the original model.
However, Olay has released a similar product called the Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System. At $30, it’s a cheaper alternative to the Clarisonic and promises to be just as effective.
If Santa doesn’t deliver the Clarisonic this year for Christmas, I’ll be checking out Olay’s version and promise to share the results!
**UPDATE*** I tried both systems, and the Clarasonic won hands down. The biggest difference is that the Clarasonic is easier to maneuver during use. The Pro X had a spinning brush attachment, while the Clarasonic’s actual brush bristles are what moves, making it super easy to use. The Pro X was all over the place. Also the quality in brush attachments made a big difference. The Clarasonic’s was softer and felt better against the skin, while the Pro X felt harsh.
If you’re tight on money, I’m sure the Pro X is better than nothing. However I suggest you save up for a better overall experience with the Clarasonice!

Let me know how you like it, I need something like this. I just noticed spots around my eyes (almost look like freckles). I am freaking! Help!
LOL! I’ll let you know
I didn’t even know about the Olay thing until I walked into a CVS today. Do tell if you find it a better alternative to the Clarisonic as that is also something I’ve been eyeing for a while.
I plan on picking it up this weekend, Florence. Keep you posted!
This cleanser easily distributes over your skin. At first I thought it felt too slight and and that it wasn’t absorbent enough. But I was wrong – it’s the perfect cleanser to use with the system, and thoroughly cleans your face without leaving a soapy feel.
In case your not familiar with it, – it’s you’re (as in you are)
So, how did it work? Is it comparable? I’ve been lusting after the Clairsonic for a while and I’m dying to know if I should just break down and get it or if the Olay unit is of equal quality!
According to me Olay is the best product as per my experience…the result is so good that I didn’t go to try other products.
I HAVE THE OLAY PRO X BRUSH.I HATE IT.JUST BOUGHT THE MIA.I LOVE IT
I felt the same, Jessica. I found the Olay one hard to maneuver and the brush not as gentle as the Mia.
Thanks for putting you review online! I have been debating whether or not to get a mia but I don’t want to pay the big bucks! I figured the Olay one was alright, but if I am going to spend the money, I want one that will do the job right…. so thanks!
Hi Kelly! It’s a great investment and worth every penny
