I’m always on the search for the elusive fountain of youth product. I’ll let you know when I find it—but in the meantime, I’ve come to discover the secret to looking young is first and foremost, prevention. By now everyone knows that sun exposure can increase your chances for skin cancer, but its also what ages people the most. So everyday, sunny or cloudy, an SPF is a must.
Besides prevention, there are also a combination of products that when used in combination, help skin maintain a youthful appearance and glow. Skin Authority, a rapidly growing skin care line, addresses both prevention and treatment with personalized skin care regimens.
To get started, I spoke to a Skin Authority representative and I told her my skin concerns (glowing skin and aging prevention). She suggested the Go! Gorgeous Kit. The Go! Gorgeous Kit contains 4 products perfect to sample the line or to keep as a travel or gym bag set. The kit includes:
- Daily Cleanser- a gel cleanser that contains 3% glycolic acid, pH 4.0. Removes dirt and oil, but still leaves the skin soft—not tight.
- Resurfacing Accelerator- an exfoliating gel containing 15% glycolic acid, pH 3.7. My favorite from the kit, this is a must have for exfoliating dead skin cells for a healthy and luminous glow.
- Tri-Power Peptide Hydrator- Formulation combines intense hydration with the anti-aging benefits of peptides, neuropeptides, and vitamins A, B, C, and E to help promote healthy cell growth and reduce the appearance of fine lines and deeper wrinkles. With AOX™ Technology, pH 5.5.
- Sunscreen Moisturizer SPF 30- a lightweight moisturizer for full spectrum protection. Abovenzone 3%, Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5%, Oxybenzone 5%, pH 3.7.
The verdict: At only $58, this kit was the perfect introduction to the Skin Authority line of products. I used each one as directed and got great results—and quickly. My favorites out of this lineup are the Daily Cleanser and the Resurfacing Accelerator. The cleanser does its job of getting the skin clean and not stripping away natural oils. I used it with my Clarisonic with no irritation or tightness. And while the Resurfacing Accelerator contains probably the highest concentration of glycolic acid I’ve seen over the counter, besides the initial 2 second tingle, it felt great on and really smoothed out my skin. I still like to incorporate a retinol in my skin care, so I now use the Resurfacing Accelerator during the day and retinol product at night.
Skin Authority also makes sure to really guide you through your new skin regimen with weekly email updates and free skin care coaching (by real people!).
