Mani to Try This Weekend: The Reverse French

I’ve said in the past that I’m not a big fan of nail art, but it’s slowly growing on me. But if I am going to jazz up my nails, it needs to be clean and sophisticated.

That’s why I love the reverse manicure that was seen on Fall 2012 runway shows like Rebecca Minkoff. I tried it myself last night and it’s surprisingly easy. Here’s how I did it:

1. After filing, shaping, and applying a base coat, apply a sheer nude color. Whet makes a fantastic one called nonchalant. Let nails dry completely before moving on to step 2.

2. If you have unsteady hands or not skilled in nail art, the easiest thing to do is to buy a pack of Nailene Perfect Tips. They are French Manicure sticker guides and come with 96 in a pack. Apply the guide right underneath the white of your nail.

3. Paint the tips of the nails above the guide. I’m using the color of Fall 2012, a dark berry shade –This one is  called Prey Tell by China Glaze.

4. Wait until tips dry- approximately 20 min. Remove guides and apply clear top coat.

All done!
