Curling Iron or Wand: Which One Is Right For You?

curling iron v curling wand

Curling irons these days almost seem old school with the popularity of curling wands. The clampless curling tools are often used to create sexy loose Victoria’s Secretesque waves. But are they really better than a curling iron?

I’ve tried both and after a couple of days of using the wand, I promptly returned it and went right back to my trusty curling iron. I found it awkward to use and wasn’t impressed with the spiral curl it produced. The biggest reason I wasn’t fond of the wand is because I couldn’t create any tension without a clamp that I rely on to smooth out my hair while curling it. Straight hair gals won’t have an issue with that, but if you have wavy, curly or frizzy hair, it might be a problem (unless you blow your hair straight first–but I try to reduce the amount of heat I use on my hair to one tool).

Anyone else prefer the curling iron? Or is the wand the way to go?

Interesting question! I honestly still use my curling iron which can also be substituted into a curling wand if needed (just by keeping the clump closed) :)Besides it still does its job just fine 🙂
