Mastering a blowout can be downright tricky, intimidating, and frustrating. But it’s a skill every woman should have on their bucket list.
So here are 3 simple steps anyone, but especially girls with very thick or curly hair, can use to get an awesome blow out at home:
***Just a word to the wise. It’s crucial to start with a great hair cut. When you have a great cut, your hair should be less maintenance, not more. Philly area girls need to check out Salon Vanity in Center City. Ask for Susan! Her hair cuts and blow outs are the best in the city***
1. Divide the hair into small sections. It’s so much easier to work with smaller amounts of hair at a time and it helps prevent frizz. I usually section my hair in 5–two in the back, one on each side, and one on top.
2. Reverse the brush. Hold the brush as if you are going to flip your hair up, not under. Why? You get the best tension, therefore straightest hair possible. This part is key in my blow drys since my hair is so curly and thick.
3. Curl the hair under. Once you have dried the section of the hair 3/4 quarters of the way using the reverse hold, finish drying the rest under.
And that’s it. Repeat until all sections are done! It will take a little bit to really get good styling your hair with a round brush and blow dryer, but its worth it. The finished result has so much more volume and movement then with a flat iron.
