Over the summer, my son decided to use my favorite highlighter as frisbee and the above was the result. A broken, crumbled mess. I still used it—carefully applying my makeup brush in the bigger broken pieces. Just opening the compact was a disaster, with pink gold highlighter ending up all over the place.
I decided to try an old makeup trick and use rubbing alcohol to mend the broken powder makeup to make it good as new.
- 70% rubbing alcohol
- plastic wrap
- spatula ( I used the back of a plastic spoon)
- synthetic eyeliner brush
- Completely cover the broken makeup area with plastic wrap. Once covered, smash the broken makeup (use the opposite end of the spatula or spoon) so that it’s basically a powder.
- Uncover the broken makeup and using a dropper put about 10-15 drops of alcohol in it (how many drops depends on how big the area you need to fix is).
- Smooth the makeup using the spatula. Clean up the sides with the eyeliner brush. Let dry for a few hours
Viola! Good as new again (and $40 bucks for a new compact saved!).
