Oh, the weather outside is frightful. Here in the east coast, we’re trudging through the snow in our furry boots, defrosting our cars an hour before departure, and burrowing our heads back into our shells (or peacoats) like turtles. It’s days like these that I wish I was lounging in a hammock on the sandy shores of [insert exotic island here], umbrella-topped frozen girly drink in hand. Is it summer yet?!

We still got a few months to go, but Bath & Body Works’ new tropical line of scents for the spring may be the perfect escape for your winter woes.

The signature collection, “Escape to the Tropics,” features three island-inspired scents: Aruba Coconut, Bali Mango, and Rio Rumberry. Luckily, I got a chance to sample the Aruba Coconut Body Lotion and the Bali Mango Fragrance Mist.

The Aruba Coconut lotion was a bit strong at first, but the scent became more wearable as the day progressed. Aside from creamy coconut, there are notes of exotic lychee and white musk—which were all pretty spot on, although the hints of coconut should’ve been the most prominent. Personally, I’m all for the more natural, comforting scents, but this is great for those who would prefer not to walk around smelling like a legit coconut. The signature formula is on point as always; moisturizing and long-lasting. The best thing about B&BW’s lotions is that you can always expect to catch a whiff of the scent even after a full day’s work, without the need to layer a perfume/fragrance over it. And of course, they make my skin super soft!

Next up was the Bali Mango fragrance mist, with hints of juicy mango, sugar cane, pink passionflower, and luscious nectarine. This scent instantly reminded me of Pure Seduction from Victoria Secret’s Garden Collection, a very popular fragrance as well. Staying power was pretty solid for a mist (around three to four hours before wearing off), but travel sizes are also available for mid-day refreshers. If you enjoy fresh and fruity fragrances, you’ll be in for a treat with this one. Plus, I’m a sucker for the cute packaging!

Both scents, although a bit strong for my liking, are overall definitely reminiscent of the ideal island getaway.
