Loving L’Oreal: 4 Reasons To Love the Drugstore Beauty Giants

03.9.10

When it comes to makeup, expensive doesn’t always equal better. Some of my tried and true staples can be found at your local drugstore or super market. As you will see, one brand stands out in particular, and that’s L’Oreal. I’ll admit I don’t frequently reach out to other brands as I’ve tried them in the past and they didn’t impress me.  Here are 4 reasons/products why L’Oreal reigns supreme in the drugstore beauty aisle.

1. L’Oreal Lash Out

1041 Loreal lash out mascara 150x150 Loving LOreal: 4 Reasons To Love the Drugstore Beauty GiantsI first came in contact with this mascara a few years ago when I did a photo shoot with Glamour magazine. The makeup artist used this mascara and just a few individual lashes to make my eye lashes really pop. She then confided it was the only mascara she uses. While I’ve tried others, including the popular and award winning Maybelline’s Great Lash (I don’t get the hype?), I always come back to this. L’Oreal’s Voluminous comes in a close 2nd. If you love Dior’s Dior Show, you’ll love this. Only downside? It needs to be replaced more often then usually, as it tends to get clumpy the longer you have it. But for around 7 bucks, I can cope icon smile Loving LOreal: 4 Reasons To Love the Drugstore Beauty Giants

2. L’Oreal HIP High Intensity Pigments

These eye shadows in my honest opinion, come closest to MAC quality eyes hadows. The colors are rich, vibrant, and last long.

3. L’Oreal True Match Foundation

I have very yellow undertones and it’s extremely difficult to find a foundation that matches perfectly. Bobbi Brown is fabulous for women with very warm or yellow undertones. But for drugstore beauty, only L’Oreal gets it right.

4. L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray

I haaate hairspray. Or so I thought. I had long heard of Elnett before it hit drugstore shelves in every major fashion magazines as celebrity hairstylists favorite must have. It holds, gives shine, and best yet, brushes out easily.

How to Get Rose Byrne’s Emmy Hair: From Harry Josh!

02.9.10

Harry prepped Rose’s hair for one week before the red carpet by prescribing John Frieda Root Awakening Health Infusing Shampoo & Conditioner ($6.49 each). The duo ensures hair is more shinyhealthy and manageable after seven days of use, leaving it in top shape for styling!

HOW TO GET ROSE’S EMMY LOOK:

·         Luxurious Volume Bountiful Body Mousse was applied to Rose’s wet hair and then blew it out using a boar-bristle brush. The mousse helped Harry achieve high volume hair that would easily mold into the curls he was about to create—and the product gave a great texturized base, which Harry needed to create the look.

·         Harry used a 3/4-inch curling iron throughout her hair and pulled a portion of the curls into a ponytail at the crown of her head. He then pulled her hair into a high bun, pulling out individual curls for a Grecian-inspired style with a modern twist.

·         Harry secured the style by spraying Luxurious Volume All-Out Hold Hairspray to maintain volume and hold.

WHAT IT COSTS: John Frieda Luxurious Volume All-Out Hold Hairspray, $6.49; John Frieda Luxurious Volume Bountiful Body Mousse, $6.49

WHERE TO BUY: food, drug and mass market retailers nationwide
